There have been recent stories about experienced practice managers who have abused their position of trust and who have stolen money by taking payments without authorisation. Such breaches of trust have resulted in custodial sentences.
What drives such individuals to make such serious errors of judgement?
As a profession, we are not formally regulated, but the PMn believes that we should regulate ourselves and ensure that all of us maintain the highest standards. This should also be extended to all staff. We have already had discussions with the professional standards authority and agree to the principles that are applied to many organisations that we already work with.
We need to be accountable.
