However, we must accept that part of the problem is that newly qualified GP’s want more flexibility and older GP’s are happy to take early retirement, reduce their sessions and top up their earnings by doing lucrative locum work. Harsh? Maybe, but a degree of truth in that statement.
At the moment, the local health economy dictates that you can earn more as a locum than as a partner, all with less hassle and responsibility.
